Symbolism: The scarlet triangle bearing a gold sea lion from the seal of the President of the Philippines, indicates the unit's service in World War II. The four stars refer to participation in four wars. The castle with blue windows, suggested by the coat of arms of Manila in the Philippines, indicates campaigns in that area during three of the wars. The masoned castle and the sword held by the sea lion refer to the groups mission and motto. The gold outlined disk refers to California, the units home area.
