(49th Company, California Home Guard)

The following article was copied from the December 22, 1917 issue of California Home Guard News.

Q. M. Sergeant G. F. Wilde reports that they formerly had 43 members and the company was making very best progress possible under leadership of Captain H. O. Kerby, but the Captain has been called to another part of the State.

First Lieutenant J. H. Lasswell died November 26th and was buried with military honors at the Presidio by Spanish-American veterans.

It will now be necessary to reorganize and elect new officers, which will be done, as there is considerable interest to keep up the company here, especially if we can get uniforms and arms.
