Potter Auxiliary Field No. 5
 

 

LOCATION: The site is located in Merced County approximately 18 miles southwest of the city of Merced, California

SITE HISTORY: Potter Auxiliary Field No. 5 was established in 1943 and was operated as an auxiliary field for the Army Air Force Basic Flight Training School. Improvements made to the airfield included: stagehouse, crash truck shelter, latrine, landing mat, fencing, and runways. On 31 May 1947, the 640 acre site was turned over to the War Assets Administration.
