On 6 November 1942 the unit received the
defense mission to protect:
Two Southern Pacific Railroad bridges/trestles.
A bridge on the Fort Ord Road over the
Salinas Rivers.
Bridges on State Highway 1 over the:
Tombladero Slough.
Elkhorn Slough.

Indian Valley Rifles
No. 2: Licensed 21 December 1942. License revoked 1 October
1943 by Special Order 265. Commanded by Ross Walling. Although
considered part of San Luis Obispo County's San Miguel by the
US Post Office, it was located just north of the Monterey-San
Luis Obispo County Line. Not to be confused with the Indian Valley
Rifles in Plumas County.
King City
King City Rifles: Licensed
21 December 1942. License revoked 1 October 1943 by Special Order
265. Associated with the King City Post of the American Legion
where the Post Adjutant served as the unit commander.
Lonoak
Peach Tree Rifles: Licensed
21 December 1942. License revoked 1 October 1943 by Special Order
265. Commanded by E.L.Wade. It may have been disestablished prior
to its license being revoke.
Parkfield
Parkfield Rifles: Licensed

Three US Highway 101 bridges over the
Salinas River at San Ardo, and 3-1/2 and 4 miles west of San
Ardo.
30,000 barrel oil storage tank at San
Ardo.
Soledad
Gonzales-Soledad Rifles: Licensed
23 November 1942. License revoked 1 October 1943 by Special Order
265. The 26 January 1943 Fifth Region Station List stated that:
The unit was commanded by George W. Hook.
On 21 October 1942, the unit received
a defense mission to protect highway bridges in the vicinity
of Gonzales and Soledad.
