Regiment, this unit was formed as part of the California State
Militia as opposed to the California State Guard. The design was based on Sun Yat-sen's famous Three
Principles or San Min Chu I, incorporating Chinese symbols of
blue sky, white sun, golden pagoda, and the color red. For more
