Fullerton Home Guard

the Fullerton Public Library
The Fullerton Home Guard was formed in 1917 in response to
World War I. The volunteers, who had purchased their own uniforms
and guns, drilled each Monday night in Amerige Park. Many of
the militiamen shown here went on to fight in France. On May
12, 1898, an earlier Fullerton Home Guard of 72 members was formed
in response to the Spanish-American War.
