Helendale Auxiliary Field

This airfield was established in 1942 as a satellite field for Victorville Army Air Field (AAF), (later renamed George AFB), having four, paved runways laid out in a triangular configuration. The longest being a 4,459-foot asphalt strip.

Helendale continued to operate as a satellite field for Victorville AAF until the end of World War II. Helendale was reused after the war as a private civilian airfield.
 
The field was operated by Victorville AAF's 3035th Army Air Forces Base Unit.
