Inducted into Federal service 3 March 1941 at Los Angeles

Inactivated 7 April 1946 at Camp Stoneman, California

Reorganized and Federally recognized 19 June 1947 at Los Angeles ,

Ordered into active Federal service 1 September 1950 at Los Angeles

(Company F, 160th Infantry [NGUS] organized and Federally recognized 1 September 1952 at Los Angeles)

Released from active Federal service 30 June 1954 and reverted to state control; concurrently Federal recognition withdrawn from Company F, 160th Infantry (NGUS)

Reorganized and redesignated 1 July 1954 as Company A, 160th Armored Infantry Battalion, an element of the 40th Armored Division

Consolidated 1 July 1959 with the 140th Replacement Company (organized and Federally recognized 2 June 1955 at Los Angeles) and consolidated unit converted and redesignated as the 540th Administration Company, an element of the 40th Armored Division

Reorganized and redesignated 29 January 1968 as Company A, 540th Support Battalion, an element of the 40th Infantry Brigade; concurrently location changed to Long Beach

Reorganized and redesignated 13 January 1974 as the 40th Adjutant General Company (less 40th Infantry Division Band at Los Angeles), an element of the 40th Infantry Division

Home Station: Long Beach (less detachment at Los Angeles)
