March Air Force Base Drop Zone

US Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District History (1999)

Location:
The site is located one mile south of Lake Hemet in Riverside County.

Site History: The Air Force acquired a 1280 site in Riverside County by permit from the Garner Cattle Ranch. A total of three consecutive permits were issued, each with a one year term. The 303rd Aerospace Rescue & Recovery Squadron from March AFB used the site for recovery of personnel and equipment parachute drops. No military improvements were constructed and no military debris has been found on the property. The final permit expired and use of the site discontinued on 31 March 1974. The site is now owned by the U.S. Forest Service as part of the San Bernardino National Forest. The land is idle.
