this location as a result of dredging and reclamation activities
conducted between 1960 and 1964.
No USN improvements are known to remain
at any of the landing sites.
US Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles
District (1999)
The U.S. Navy (USN) acquired three landing
sites and an auto parking area. Use of Berth 11 Landing was acquired
by the USN from the Long Beach Harbor Department (LBHD) by means
unknown as early as 1932. The earliest available acquisition
record for Berth 11 Landing included 3.61 acres for auto parking,
acquired by permit on 10 November 1936. Use of the Magnolia Avenue
Landing was acquired by means unknown from the City of Long Beach
in 1955. Use of Queens Way Landing was acquired by means unknown
from the City of Long Beach sometime between 1958 and 1960. Records
were neither complete nor specific.
The USN used the landing sites as personnel landings for motor
launches from the USN fleet based in the area. Improvements at
Berth 11 included one building with administrative, concession,
and checker offices, in addition to ramps, floats, and a parking
area. Improvements at the Magnolia Avenue site included a pier
and five to seven docks. Improvements at the Queens Way Landing
site included about eight docks, and possibly one building.
The USN permit for Berth 11 Landing was terminated by the Navy
on 20 July 1955, returning the landing and 3.61 acres to the
LBHD. The LBHD currently leases the Berth 11 property to California
United Container Terminal. The land side only of Berth 11 (currently
known as Berth Ell) is used for auto parking. USN use of the

Avenue site through dredging and reclamation activities approximately
during the period 1960 to 1964. USN use of the Queens Way Landing
site ended in 1974, or earlier. Queens Way Landing is owned and
