San Francisco Quartermaster Laundry
History
A leased commercial laundry facility located
at 1148 Harrison Street, San Francisco, California. It was operated
by Quartermaster Laundry Detachment, 1927th Service Command Unit
(Presidio of San Francisco Station Complement). It provided laundry
service to Army activities at the Presidio of San Francisco and
the surrounding metropolitan area. The facility was aquired by
the War Department through condemnation proceedings against the
Metropollitan Laundry Company, Ltd. in 1943. Very little else
is known about this installation.
