Initially operated by the 1910th Service
Command Unit (Recreational Camp Activities) and later a detachment
of the 1909th Servce Command Unit (Southern District, Ninth Service
Command). This camp was locatedon a six acre leased parcel at
5th Street and Ocean Park Boulevard in Santa Monica. The January
1945 edition of Inventory of War Department Owned, Sponsored
and Leased Facilities, indicated that the camp had a capacity
to house 629 enlisted soldiers in tents and 17 officers.
