Distinctive Unit Insignia
 
Design Approved: 20 April 1976
 
Description: A gold color metal and enamel insignia 1 1/8 inches (2.86cm) in height overall consisting of the shield and motto of the coat of arms.
Symbolism: The lion is adopted from the arms of Normandy Province in France where elements of the battalion served in the first of five campaigns from Normandy to Central Europe during World War II. The award of the Phillipine Presidential Unit Citation to elements of the battalion is suggested by the scarlet triangle area with the stars denoting three World War II campaigns in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater, and the lower star barded to indicate participation in an assault landing on Luzon. Korean service and three awards of the Korean Presidential Unit Citation are symbolized by the taeguk and three flashes. The flashes also symbolize the signal function of the battalion.

Shield: Per chevron reversed Gules and Or, in chief between three mullets two and one of the last that in fess point barbed to chief, a Korean taeguk Proper fimbriated and issuant of three flashes to chief gold, in base a lion passant guardant Tenné.

Crest: That for the regiments and separate battalion of the California Army National Guard: On a wreath of the colors Or and Gules the setting sun behind a grizzly bear passant on a grassy field all Proper.
