- Center
for Military History Goes to the Field: During the weekend 4-5 February, three members
of the California Center for Military History participated as
observer/evaluators with the California National Guard's 270th
Military Police Company during their Field Training Exercise
at Van Vleck Ranch training area in southern Sacramento County.
Chief Warrant Officer 4 Ernie McPhereson, Warrant Officer 1 George
Cooper, and Command Sergeant Major Dan Sebby were able to observe
company level tactical operations first hand. As members who
would be part of a deployable military history detachment, it
is important to keep up with the latest doctrine of the Army.
It also strengthened the ties between units of the California
Army National Guard and the State Military Reserve. It is expected
that further training and support would be conducted in the future.

- Thank
You Sacramento!
On February 26, the museums of Sacramento held their second annual
Sacramento Museum Day. Over 3,300 visitors came through our door
in a six hour period. That number exceeded last years attendance
by 1,000. Unlike last year's event, we were prepared with plenty
of docents under the leadership of Captain Greg Tracy. Museum
staff, docents and members of California Center for Military
History ensured that visitors were well taken care of, in spite
of the increased traffic. Once again, THANK YOU SACRAMENTO!
